From the age of 40 it is advised to reduce caloric intake without losing the nutritional support they need. Thenutritional needs of people older healthy or do not have serious illnesses are not very different from those of anadult . The biggest difference is that require more protein and fewer calories because your metabolism consume less and have less physical activity . With respect to the other nutrients (carbohydrates, fats, vitamins , minerals and fiber) body continues to demand the same.
Are frequent cases of malnourished elderly due to a combination of factors in the mix appetite , the depression , the lazy , the discomfort caused by any disease or medication , problems with teeth ... For all these circumstances many older, but they do not get to be malnourished themselves end up suffering some deficiencies that canaffect your health , delay the recovery of certain diseases, exacerbate any neurological problems cause slow healing of wounds, etc. Osteoporosis is very common due to poor absorption of vitaminand calcium , it may be necessary food supplement.
It is therefore very important to pay special attention to the supply of older people and try to make it not only nutritious, but also appealing. In this age should take special care of your diet and moderate exercise daily to prevent and control health problems like cholesterol , hypertension , diabetes ...

  • Between 40 and 49 years: Reduce by 5%
  • Between 50 and 59 years: Reduce 10%
  • Between 60 and 69 years: 20% reduction
  • From 70 years: Reduce 30%
