Autumn arrives and the first cold, the rains begin, the days grow shorter and these changes affect our mood: sadness, sleepiness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety , stress , and alteration of hunger, weakness, poor concentration, decreased sex drive ... the fatigueis a response of the body to the new conditions of autumn is known as seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
Why fall depresses us? Because reduced daylight hours and change vital rhythms, producing an internal imbalance. The sunlight is key in the production of certain hormones in the brain such as melatonin (influence on sleep, energy, regulation of hunger and body temperature) and serotonin (mood). When daylight hours decrease more melatonin (we have more sleep) and less serotonin or "hormone of humor" occurs (we are sadder).
It is a mild and temporary syndrome that usually lasts a few days or weeks. It affects6% of the population, more women than men, aged between 40 and 55, and people with a tendency to depresion. Objetivo? Raise the spirits!
